Based in Australia, Aleisha, a second-generation SWANA diaspora, is a self-taught analogue photographer.
She sees the lens as a medium for storytelling, seeking to capture not just images, but the essence of her roots- Believing in the transformative power of photography for self-discovery and empowerment. Aleisha infuses her work with a sense of longing and belonging, exploring themes of identity, displacement, and the search for home.
Growing up immersed in the traditions and stories passed down through generations, she developed a profound appreciation for the love and resilience of her people and their connection to the land. Aleisha celebrates this connection through her evocative imagery, often focusing on the beauty and strength of women in harmony with nature.
Her photographic style is rooted in the love for life's simplicities and the beauty of everyday moments, allowing her to explore human connection through her lens. Bridging the gap between past and present, tradition and modernity, Aleisha's work invites dialogue and fosters connection across borders and generations.
